Istanbul, 15 August 2021 (TDI): On August 15, two Turkish dignitaries Dr. Selami Kilic and Prof. Dr. Celal Soydan were bestowed Pakistan’s civil award by President Dr. Arif Alvi during a special occasion of prize distribution ceremony in Istanbul.
Dr. Selami was awarded for his relief contributions during the devastations of 2005 earthquake and 2010 floods in Pakistan. Not only did he help build a field hospital in Dera Murad Jamali but also took surveys for damage and need assessment in Sindh and Balochistan areas.
Prof. Dr Celal Soydan was also awarded for promoting Urdu language and literature in Turkey. He authored 20 books apart from publishing multiple articles and papers in Urdu and Turkish. He chose Iqbal for his doctoral thesis and promoted Iqbaliat in Turkey through translations of classical works of Iqbal for Turkish readers.
