President Bashar al-Assad contacts King Abdullah II of Jordan

Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic contacts Jordanian leader.

Damascus, 4 October 2021 (TDI): The Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic announced an official call made by President Bashar al-Assad to King Abdullah II of Jordan. In this virtual meeting, they discussed bilateral relations, and strengthening joint cooperation for the benefit of the two brotherly countries and peoples.

Jordan plays an integral part of Syrian diplomatic relations. In that sense, the call comes days after Amman opened its border with Syria. This act incentives President Bashar al-Assad to organize an official first call with Jordanian leader in decades.

Amid efforts to boost cooperation between the two countries, which face challenging economic conditions, diplomatic ties are valuable. Likewise, the Royal Court of Jordan said that the leaders discussed the relations between the countries, in order to support the efforts to preserve the sovereignty, stability, territorial integrity and the people of Syria.
