President Alvi met Ambassador-designate to Switzerland

Islamabad, 26 August (TDI): President Dr. ArifAlvi met Mr. Aamir Shouket, Ambassador-designate to Switzerland at the presidential palace, today. The President pressed the Ambassador to persuade businesspersons from Switzerland to invest more in the pro-business environment of Pakistan.

Dr. Arif Alvi added that Pakistan has a history of bilateral relations with Switzerland. He acknowledged Switzerland as a key trade and investment partner of Pakistan and this partnership could be further improved.

He also said that the increasing investment of the multinational companies from Switzerland strengthened the relations and thus the trust between the two countries. He further said that owing to the improved security situation in Pakistan the investment policies of the government were very business-friendly.

Dr. Alvi also urged the Ambassador to encourage the Swiss government for enhanced political engagement. He also emphasized the necessity of activation of the Pakistani community for highlighting the better image of the nation.

President Dr. Arif Alvi further stressed Mr. Aamir Shouket for highlighting the positive role through Islamabad’s phenomenal success stories especially in the recent unfolding situation of Afghanistan. He also stressed the Ambassador to manifest Islamabad’s major role in contributing peace and humanitarian work in Afghanistan. He said that though Pakistan was home to more than three million Afghan refugees for forty years yet it successfully countered terrorism. He extended his best wishes to the Ambassador-designate on assuming the office in a few days.
