The first round of political consultations was held during the meeting between the two countries.
Both sides reviewed aspects of bilateral relations between their countries and discussed ways to further strengthen and develop relations in all areas of cooperation.
The delegations from both countries also discussed several issues of common interest and efforts exerted in their regard.
The meeting was also attended by Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the Czech Republic, Abdullah Muteb.
Saudi Arabia-Czech Republic Relations
Diplomatic relations between the Czech Republic and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia were established in 1995. In the same year, the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Riyadh was opened.
The state visit by the President of the Czech Republic, Vaclav Havel, to the KSA in 2001 is seen as a major development in their bilateral relations. The framework for bilateral relations was set in consultations between the two countries’ Ministries of Foreign Affairs in March 2002.
Furthermore, the Czech-Saudi Business Council was established in September 2003. The council is actively engaged in the promotion of Czech-Saudi commercial relations and holds meetings regularly.
Visits on government and parliamentary levels are also conducted occasionally. The participation of the President of the Czech Republic in the Jeddah Economic Forum 2005 is one such example.
This visit opened the door for cooperation in many areas between both countries, such as education, agriculture, scientific and technical cooperation, and especially health services.
