Warsaw, 19 August 2021 (TDI): On Tuesday, the Foreign Ministry of Affairs of Poland in a video conference that was held between the foreign ministers of member countries of the EU stated the need to assist the Afghan people. Polish Deputy Foreign Minister of Affairs, Marcin Przydacz also participated in the conference. The discussion was about the evacuation plan for the foreign nationals and Afghan refugees, humanitarian concerns, and the diplomatic relations of the European Union with Afghanistan.
Poland was part of the NATO mission in Afghanistan where thousands of soldiers and employees were present in Afghanistan for the past 20 years. Now, at the time of uncertainty in Afghanistan, Poland is playing its role well by performing evacuation missions and humanitarian assistance. Two planes have been sent already to evacuate people.
The Polish Government asserted that talks are taking place with the US and efforts will be made but the current focus is on 100 Polish and Afghan citizens. Moreover, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki stated that the Polish government had issued 45 humanitarian visas to Afghan Nationals and their families who were working for the Polish Embassy in Kabul.
