Tianjin (TDI): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit in Tianjin, reaffirming Pakistan’s commitment to deepening ties with its western neighbor and promoting peace in the region.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and senior cabinet members joined the Prime Minister during the talks.
PM Shehbaz described Pakistan–Iran relations as historic and deeply rooted in shared history, culture, and faith.
He said both countries were witnessing positive momentum in their partnership, noting that President Pezeshkian’s recent visit to Pakistan in August had given a significant boost to bilateral ties and had been warmly welcomed by the Pakistani people.

The Prime Minister called for further strengthening political and economic cooperation, while reiterating Pakistan’s solidarity with Iran.
He emphasized that dialogue and diplomacy remain the only path to ensuring de-escalation and long-term stability in the region.

President Pezeshkian thanked Pakistan for its consistent support and reaffirmed Tehran’s commitment to expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.
He also extended condolences over the ongoing floods in Pakistan, saying that the Iranian people stood firmly alongside Pakistan during this difficult time.
