ISLAMABAD, (TDI): Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with of the European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
According to a statement issued from the Prime Minister’s House, their discussions covered a range of topics, including bilateral relations and regional and global issues.
The Prime Minister congratulated Von Der Leyen on her re-election and commended her unwavering commitment to promoting the interests of the European Union.
The premier emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening ties with the EU, highlighting the importance of ongoing dialogue and cooperation to achieve shared goals.
He highlighted Pakistan’s consistent political will to fully implement the GSP Plus-related international conventions.
This meeting reflects Pakistan’s proactive engagement and collaboration on global issues of mutual interest.
Earlier today, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met with Bill Gates, co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
During the meeting, they discussed on ongoing health initiatives in Pakistan, with a particular focus on polio eradication and improvements in maternal and child health.
He also held a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in New York in which they emphasized the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and reiterated their commitment to the establishment of a Palestinian state.
“The time has come when we all must come together and demand an immediate ceasefire and the creation of the State of Palestine as without that peace will not return in this part of the world.
If this is allowed to linger on, then God forbids, things will become very very tense,” the prime minister told the reporters along with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas after they held a meeting.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chief Adviser of the Interim Government of Bangladesh Professor Muhammad Yunus, Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, and Maldives President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
