Beijing, 23 July 2024 (TDI): Ursula von der Leyen was re-elected as the president of the European Commission on Tuesday, and Chinese Premier Li Qiang extended his heartfelt congratulations to her on the occasion which boasts China-EU ties.
In a letter of congratulations, Li stated that the Chinese government continually places a high priority on the development of relations with the European Union (EU) and highly respects the substantial role and impact that the European Commission plays. Li also mentioned that the Chinese government is very pleased with the results of the development of relations with the EU.
According to Li, the European Commission plays a significant role in the development of relations between China and the EU. In addition, Li remarked that the Chinese government acknowledges the significant influence the European Commission possesses.
Li stated that the relationship between China and the European Union is currently experiencing steady and moderate expansion, resulting in favourable outcomes in bilateral interactions and collaborations. He continued by saying that this expansion is the consequence of these positive outcomes.

The European Union (EU) is willing to engage in cooperation with China with the goals of enhancing the political foundation of China-EU ties, encouraging comprehensive and mutually beneficial collaboration, and constructively resolving global challenges.
China is equally eager to collaborate with the EU. The European Union is enthusiastic about working with China on joint projects that will strengthen China-EU ties.
China is ready to work together with the European Union. According to Li’s observation, this cooperation will significantly impact not only the security and prosperity of the concerned parties but also the stability and prosperity of the entire world.
