Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister (PM) Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday expressed satisfaction over record increase in remittances along with the reduction in the weekly inflation rate to 3.57 percent.
Chairing federal cabinet meeting in Islamabad, he said that the surge in remittances reflects the trust of overseas Pakistanis.
He said that the increase in remittances has occured despite a call for civil disobedience from a particular political party, questioning what could be a greater act of enmity against Pakistan than this.

Emphasizing the need for political stability for economic development, the Prime Minister referred to the meeting chaired by him yesterday on the law and order situation, according to Radio Pakistan.
The PM has issued special direction for ensuring that those who recently attempted to attack the federal capital will not be spared, while clarifying those innocent individuals will not be touched.
On fresh investment from the regional country, he said that that Azerbaijan will invest two billion dollars in Pakistan. He mentioned that the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, during a meeting with him yesterday, emphasized that the projects should be identified and feasibility studies prepared so that the agreements can proceed.
In the meeting, the prime minister also reviewed overall economic indicators like reducing inflation. He hoped for further improvement.
Referring to the situation in Syria, the PM said Pakistan’s diplomatic position remained neutral on it.

PM On Pakistanis Stranded in Syria
He said a mechanism has been evolved for the safe evacuation of about five hundred to six hundred Pakistanis from Syria via Beirut after consultations with the Prime Minister of Lebanon.
A day earlier the Pakistani PM in a telephonic conversation with his Lebanese counterpart urged to help in evacuating Pakistanis stranded in Syria.
The prime minister also spoke to the Pakistani ambassador in Syria and instructs him to take concrete steps for safe evacuation of the Pakistanis.
