PM Pakistan Imran Khan put forward five-point agenda at SCO

Dushanbe, 19 September 2021 (TDI): The Prime Minister (PM) of Pakistan Imran Khan promulgated a five-point agenda during his speech at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Summit of Heads of States 2021, Dushanbe.

The way forward agenda proposed by Imran Khan covers five points. First, the international community “must reaffirm complete support for multilateralism and the principles of the United Nations (UN) charter including equality and sovereignty of the states for territorial integrity, non-aggression, non-use of threat or force, and people’s right for self-determination.”

Second, “We must strengthen our collective endeavours to mitigate the adverse economic impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic through the SCO joint advisory measures.”

Third, “We must chart out a coordinated SCO approach towards stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan including through enhanced engagement to address our common concerns; safeguard our shared interests; steps to provide humanitarian support and ensure economic stability and measures to enable Afghanistan to become a reliable partner in peace and prosperity.”

Fourth, “We must advance the agenda of regional connectivity in this regard taking the process forward; Pakistan would like to host a conference on the theme ‘Transport Connectivity for Regional Prosperity”

FIfth, “We must recognize the immense potential of our youth; explore all possible avenues for the increased interface and empowerment. Pakistan would like to host a conference on “Youth Empowerment through Digital Economy”.

Prime Minister Pakistan put forward this way forward agenda after his proactive foreign policy at Dushanbe. Imran Khan was witnessed leaving no stone unturned in turning the fresh air towards Pakistan as a prominent player of the SCO and region.
