PM Lays Foundation for City Projects, Eyes Tourism

Islamabad (TDI): For better traffic management, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has laid the foundation stone of the Jinnah Avenue-Ninth Avenue and the Serena Chowk-Convention Center intersections in Islamabad.

Addressing the foundation laying ceremony here the other day, the prime minister said these projects marks the beginning of initiatives for the development and prosperity of the residents of Islamabad and its surrounding areas.

He expressed intention to complete work on Serena Chowk project in two months and F-9 project in three months.

He praised the Interior Minister and his team for the resolve to complete the projects at a fast pace.

PM Shehbaz Sharif also appreciated Deputy Prime Minister, Interior Minister, Minister for Information and Broadcasting, administration and security agencies for their efforts in successful holding of the SCO conference in Islamabad last month.

On instructions of Army Chief Syed Asim Munir, 10 corps, Rawalpindi and SSG corps fully assisted in security on the occasion and after decades Pakistan hosted such a big event.

Leaders from key countries including head of the governments from China and Russia came here and lauded beauty of Islamabad, the PM added. He said, “we not only have to maintain, rather we have to enhance the beautification.”

He said beautification of Islamabad should be maintained throughout the year, so that tourists, both foreigners and domestic travelers, come here and memorized by its beauty.

He noted that Islamabad is rich in natural beauty, it would be enhanced and soon it would be a tourist spot.

The Prime Minister also acknowledged efforts of  the Chairman CDA and Interior Minister for the beautification of Islamabad on the occasion of SCO conference, saying CDA team worked hard for the beautification and the Ministry of Broadcasting fully engaged with CDA for renovation of the Conference Center (Convention Center).

Earlier, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi briefed the Prime Minister that Serena Chowk-Convention Center intersection will be completed in sixty days, while the Jinnah Avenue-Ninth Avenue project will be constructed within 120 days.
