PM Expresses Satisfaction Over Security Measures

Islamabad (TDI): Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif at his office on Sunday.

During the meeting, the interior minister briefed PM Shehbaz on the overall law and order situation in the country, a statement from the PM’s Office said.

Discussions also encompassed the current political landscape, it said.

The prime minister expressed satisfaction with the measures taken to ensure peace and stability across the nation and commended the efforts being made in this regard.

The meeting comes hours after PM Shehbaz formed a political committee to hold talks with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

The committee comprises Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Advisor to PM Rana Sanaullah Khan, Senator Irfan Siddiqui, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Syed Naveed Qamar, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, Aleem Khan and Chaudhry Salik Hussain.

This comes after Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said his chamber was always open for negotiations between the government and the opposition parties.

Meanwhile, PTI founder Imran Khan, currently incarcerated in Adiala Jail, has also formed a negotiation committee comprising Asad Qaiser, Omar Ayub, Salman Akram Raja, Ali Amin Gandapur and Hamid Raza to initiate talks with the government.

The primary agenda of the committee is to secure the release of detained PTI workers, Omar Ayub had said earlier.
