Islamabad, 21 August 2024 (TDI): The death of Pakistani pilgrims in a bus accident in Yazd, Iran, on Wednesday caused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to publicly convey his deepest sorrows.
In a post on X platform, he wished for the injured people’s quickest possible recovery.
Deeply saddened by the loss of lives at a bus accident of Pakistani Zaireen near Yazd in Iran. My thoughts are with the bereaved families. May the injured recover at the earliest. I have directed our Mission in Tehran to extend all possible assistance to the affected families.

The prime minister gave the Pakistani embassy in Tehran instructions to help the impacted families of pilgrims as much as possible and see to it that the injured receive medical attention.
Moreover, he requested that the embassy set up a prompt return of the pilgrims’ deceased corpses to Pakistan.
Maryam Nawaz, the chief minister of Punjab, also commiserated with the families of the Pakistani pilgrims who lost their lives. In addition to praying for the injured people’s quick recovery, Maryam sent her condolences and words of compassion to the families of the deceased.
