Baku, 2 August 2021 (TDI): On August 1, 2021, Jeyhun Bayramov, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, and Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey, spoke via phone.
Both sides discussed forest fires in Turkey. The death toll from wildfires in Turkey increased to eight on Sunday. The firefighters are battling blazes in seaside towns. According to authorities, more than 100 fires have been ignited in Turkey in the last five days. Dozens of villages and hotels were evacuated. Reports showed people fleeing through fields. Both parties also discussed ongoing rescue and firefighting operations.
Other matters of mutual concern were also highlighted by the ministers.
About the help delivered to Turkey upon the direction of the President of Azerbaijan, Bayramov stated that Azerbaijan is ready to provide any kind of assistance to Turkey in the future.
