Dublin, 27 August 2021 (TDI): The Irish Foreign Office praised Ellen Keane for her performance at the 2020 Paralympic Games. Ellen Keane is an Irish Paralympic swimmer who competes in S9, SM9, and SB8.

The 100-meter breaststroke SB8 event for the 2020 Paralympic Games was held at the Tokyo Aquatic Center on August 26, 2021. Ellen Keane won the women’s 100-meter breaststroke SB8 and finished it at the time record of 1:19.93. At the Paralympic Games 2020, among the Ireland team, Ellen Keane was the one who won the first gold medal and made her country proud. In 2016, Ellen Keane also won a bronze medal at the same Paralympic event. Keane also defeated her closest rival, New Zealand’s Sophie Pascoe, who finished just half a second later. Moreover, the Foreign Ministry of Ireland congratulated her for becoming champion for the first time.
