Palestinian Ministry condemns targeting of civilians in Rafah

-

Gaza, 19 March 2024 (TDI): The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates has condemned the brutal and bloody bombing and targeting of civilians in Rafah committed by the Israeli occupation forces against the people of Palestine.

In a statement released today, the Ministry underscores the gravity of the situation, highlighting the dawn assault on residential areas in Rafah, which has left dozens dead, wounded, and missing under the rubble.

Despite widespread international outcry and calls for restraint, the Israeli authorities persist in their campaign of violence and disregard for human life, Ministry added.

Moreover, the Ministry termed this bloody bombing in Rafah a serious beginning of occupation’s crimes there, despite millions of people present in the region, and in official Israeli disregard for international and American demands to protect them and secure their full humanitarian needs.

The Ministry thinks that extending the scope of genocide crimes to Rafah comes at the same time as the start of US Secretary of State Blinken’s visit, who confirmed in his recent statements the absence of any serious Israeli plan to protect civilians in Rafah.

The Ministry confirmed that Israel began to destroy Rafah on a daily and systematic basis through repeated attacks on homes, bombing them, and causing dozens of martyrs and wounded.

This relentless onslaught not only inflicts suffering on innocent Palestinians in Rafah but also undermines prospects for peace and stability in the region.

Furthermore, the Palestinian Ministry highlighted that Israel began its aggression against the city of Rafah and did not wait for permission from anyone, nor did it announce it to avoid international reactions.
