Dushanbe, 30 August 2023 (TDI): The Foreign Minister of Palestine, Riyadh Al-Maliki met with the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin on August 29, in Dushanbe, to hold negotiations on bilateral cooperation.

The bilateral meeting was led by the Foreign Ministers of both Tajikistan and Palestine where the negotiations on issues of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries were discussed.

After the bilateral meeting, the third round of political consultations was held between the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine.

During the consultations between the two sides, there was an exchange of views on the current state and prospects of bilateral relations in various sectors.

The sectors of discussion included political, economic, trade, investment, tourism, legal, cultural, scientific, educational and healthcare spheres.

Apart from that, the two sides discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and Palestine within the framework of regional and international organizations.

At the end of the political consultations, some documents holding important agreements were signed between the two sides.

The documents included the Protocol on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates of the State of Palestine.

In addition to that, an agreement was signed between the Government of Tajikistan and the Government of the State of Palestine on Cooperation in higher education and science research.

Finally, an agreement between the Ministry of Agriculture of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Agriculture of the State of Palestine on cooperation in the field of agriculture was also signed.

Meeting with the President of Tajikistan

The Foreign Minister of Palestine also met with the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon in Dushanbe on the same day. He congratulated the Foreign Minister of Palestine on the inauguration of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Dushanbe.

 

Besides that, words were exchanged on the further development of bilateral cooperation and the expansion of cooperation between the relevant ministries and institutions of the two countries was considered beneficial.

The economic and commercial areas as well as fields of culture, science, technology, education, and medicine were evaluated as promising areas of cooperation.

Both sides also exchanged views on important issues of the international and regional agenda.

Inauguration of Palestinian Embassy in Dushanbe

Aside from meeting the Foreign Minister and President of Tajikistan, the Foreign Minister of Palestine also attended the inauguration ceremony of the Palestinian Embassy in Dushanbe on August 29.

The ceremony was also attended by the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan and heads of diplomatic missions authorized in Dushanbe.

The Foreign Minister of Tajikistan during his speech at the opening ceremony of the Embassy noted that this contributes to the development of relations and the establishment of new ties between the two countries.

The Foreign Minister and Expatriates of the State of Palestine expressed hope that the activities of the Palestinian Embassy in Dushanbe would be effective for the development of relations.
