Riyadh (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Monday regretted the ‘deafening silence’ of the international community over the humanitarian crisis in Palestine and urged swift action to halt the systematic genocide of Palestinians by Israel.
He made these remarks while addressing the Arab-Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh.
PM Shehbaz called the world powers to take concrete steps to safeguard the “inalienable rights of the oppressed Palestinians, by ensuring the establishment of an independent state.”

The premier said it was the duty of the Muslim Ummah to stand side by side with the people of Palestine. “We should not let this genocide and oppression persist.”
He urged the leaders of the Islamic world attending the conference to make an unequivocal call for an immediate and unconditional ceasefire, impose a ban on arms ban on Israel, and lift Israel’s blockade against Gaza to ensure quick delivery of food water, electricity and medical aid to the people of Palestine.
He also called for Israel’s accountability for its war crimes and a comprehensive review of Israel’s membership of the United Nations.

He said for more than a year, Gaza had fallen into endless darkness and despair with families torn apart, and buildings, schools and hospitals blown up.
“With each passing day, every moral code has been flagrantly violated by Israel yet the killing and destruction continued with no end in sight,” Shehbaz observed.
He questioned how long the world would ignore this annihilation, saying this silence is giving Israel more courage to continue its atrocities.
“There has been utter disregard for humanity’s repeated calls for a ceasefire and unhindered humanitarian relief and protection of civilians”.
