
Medina, 4 November 2021 (TDI): Board directors of the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) organized a meeting in medina, Saudi Arabia. Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Science and Technology, Syed Shibli Faraz also participated in the meeting and Represented Pakistan.
In the meeting, Pakistan got re-elected to the Board of Directors. Pakistan also secured to be in the Standards Management Council for the term 2022-2024. Minister Shibli Faraz thanked other Board of Directors of the SMIIC.
Federal Minister also thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of Turkey for their contributions and support in standardizing the quality of trade between OIC countries. He also appreciated their efforts for ensuring the health and safety of humans and their contributions in protecting the environment as well as efforts in facilitating trade.
One of the major development in the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This development marked the signing ceremony between Pakistan Standards Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) and the Saudi Arabian Standards Organization. The purpose of signing this MoU between the two dignitaries is to promote and ensure mutual cooperation. The MoU signed between the two institutions is on the Technical Cooperation Programme on the Action Plan.
