Islamabad, 12 August 2022 (TDI): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari received Ruslan Mirzaev, Director of the Executive Committee of the Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO-RATS).
The meeting took place at the Foreign Office on Thursday. The Foreign Minister cordially welcomed the SCO-RATS Director and his delegation to Pakistan.

Moreover, he ensured that Pakistan is committed to the goals and purposes of the SCO Charter as well as the Shanghai Spirit.
During the meeting, the Pakistani Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of regional platforms such as SCO-RATS that promote coordinated efforts in countering extremism and terrorism.
Further, Bilawal Bhutto said that no country can single-handedly resolve complex regional issues concerning peace and security. He also underscored the need to develop collective approaches for addressing evolving challenges.

Apart from this, the Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for the role of the Executive Committee of SCO-RATS in achieving common objectives.
Director Ruslan Mirzaev stressed that politicizing discussions regarding matters of countering terrorism and extremism were contrary to the SCO’s objectives.
Furthermore, the Foreign Minister reaffirmed that Pakistan would support all efforts that aim at improving the effectiveness of the organization and its efforts in combating terrorism. Moreover, both sides also exchanged views on recent developments in the region
Moreover, Director Ruslan Mirzaev is on an official visit to Pakistan. During his visit, he had meetings in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as in National Counter Terrorism Authority.
During the meetings, the Pakistani officials informed the Director about Pakistan’s success in countering terrorism and extremism and the overall regional situation.
Previous Visit
In January 2020, the former Director of the Executive Committee of SCO RATS, Jumakhon Faayyozovich Giyosov visited Pakistan. He held delegation-level talks with Sohail Mahmood, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.
Moreover, Director Giyosov acknowledged the contribution of Pakistan in fighting against terrorism and extremism in the region.
