Malé, 30 November 2022 (TDI): The new High Commissioner of Pakistan to the Maldives, Vice Admiral (Retd.) Muhammad Fayyaz Gilani presented credentials to the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on 29 November 2022.

The ceremony was held at the President’s Office in Male, Maldives followed by a meeting in which both sides held bilateral discussions.

The President and High Commissioner exchanged views on mutual interest, understanding, respect, and shared values among the both firendly South Asian Countries.

Furthermore, they discussed enhancing and strengthening the cooperation between both nations in the areas of education, health, sports, and defense. Moreover, Pakistan and Maldives agreed to work closely at regional and international fora on mutual grounds.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih conveyed his deepest condolences to the Government of Pakistan on recent flood devastation. He expressed sadness at the loss of lives and sympathies for the affectees of the catastrophe.

Meeting with the Foreign Minister of Maldives

Pakistan’s newly appointed High Commissioner also paid a courtesy call to the Foreign Minister of Maldives, Abdulla Shahid on Tuesday.

Foreign Minister of Maldives underscored the strong bond of friendship between Pakistan and Maldives. Likewise, both sides exchanged views to further enhance bileteral collaboration and cooperation.

Foreign Minister Abdullah Shahid welcomed High Commissioner on his new assignment and thanked him for presenting his credentials.

High Commissioner Fayyaz Gilani expressed gratitude to Minister for a warm welcome. Besides that, he showed commitment to work deliberatly with the Government and people of Maldives to further intensify friendly relations between both countries.

Discussion between both sides focused on reaffirmation to maximize bilateral and multilateral ties. Both top diplomats reassured that the fraternal ties between Pakistan and Maldives will endure.
