Pakistan’s Envoy Advocates Kashmir Issue Resolution

-

Ankara (TDI): Ambassador of Pakistan to Turkiye Dr. Yousaf Junaid has highlighted the critical need to resolve the Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions to ensure regional and global peace.

Speaking at the Institute of Strategic Thinking (SDE) in Ankara in connection with the upcoming “Kashmir Black Day,” the ambassador pointed out that both Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) represent ongoing situations of foreign occupation in the modern world.

He condemned the brutal military occupations that have denied people their fundamental right to self-determination and unleashed terror on innocent civilians.

Dr. Junaid expressed concern over the deteriorating human rights situation in IIOJK, noting the irony that Kashmir remains one of the oldest unresolved conflicts despite the existence of UNSC resolutions calling for a UN-administered plebiscite—an agreement acknowledged by India.

Reiterating Pakistan’s unwavering political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri people, the ambassador emphasized that this support would continue until the dispute is resolved according to UNSC resolutions.

He also expressed gratitude to the people and government of Turkiye for their principled stance on Kashmir, particularly acknowledging President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s support for the Kashmir cause.

Vice President of SDE, Alpar Tan, reaffirmed Turkiye’s commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with the wishes of the Kashmiri people.

He noted that while the international system possesses the capability to resolve conflicts, a lack of will and intention has hindered progress in both Kashmir and Palestine.

Tan urged the international community to take meaningful action to end human rights atrocities in IIOJK and to implement UN resolutions.
