Pakistan-Canada Relations

Canada and Pakistan have had a long diplomatic relationship since 1947, shortly after Pakistan’s independence. Both nations have common goals including people-to-people links, governance and democracy, human rights, climate change, development help, regional security and defense, transnational crime, and trade and investment.

Amidst this 60-year cooperation and friendship, culture and arts is the key to the friendship between both states. Both states are prestigious members of the United Nations, the peacekeeping missions, and are a part of the commonwealth states.

Another common ground is their part in the security issues of Afghanistan and the child abduction prevention program, the Malta process. In 2020, the bilateral trade of Pakistan and Canada reached near 1.$11 billion, making Pakistan it’s 36th largest exporter.

Canada’s exports to Pakistan sum up to be $669 million. Art brings diverse people together therefore, culture teaches the gratitude of that diversity. Differing from one another intensifies their beauty.

Pakistan has never lacked in arts, values, and tradition. There is endless magnificence and talent in the Pakistan nation. Their history plays a vital role in this.

Because it is rich in culture, architecture, and appreciation for the unknown. Cultural events are a way of showcasing a nation’s history. Canada values these sentiments and provides a platform for Embassies of multiple nationalities to hold their cultural events/ gatherings in association with the Canadian Cultural Association.
