Islamabad, 6 October 2023 (TDI): The Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Sami Saeed, has once again affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to expediting the progress of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) projects.

He made these significant remarks during a recent meeting with the Chairman of the China Overseas Port Holding Company (COPHC), Yu Bo.

Gwadar, often considered the heart of CPEC and a gateway to prosperity for Pakistan and the wider region, was a focal point of their discussions.

The Minister emphasized the ongoing efforts to elevate Gwadar into a world-class port and a cutting-edge logistics hub.

This ambitious development initiative is expected to create numerous employment opportunities, spur economic growth, and drive prosperity for the people of Pakistan.

Furthermore, Minister Saeed reiterated Pakistan’s dedicated commitment to promptly addressing any outstanding issues related to CPEC.

To facilitate this, both China and Pakistan have established a high-level mechanism aimed at swiftly resolving any concerns that may arise during the course of these vital projects.

Chairman Yu Bo provided an update on the remarkable progress of the Gwadar Free Zone and Gwadar Free Port.

He underscored the immense significance of Gwadar within the CPEC framework and noted the successful completion of the first stage of Gwadar’s port and city development, along with the establishment of the Gwadar Free Zone. This achievement stands as a testament to the dedication of all stakeholders involved.

Chairman Yu Bo further highlighted how COPHC’s decade-long stewardship had remarkably transformed Gwadar from a modest village into a thriving modern city, enriched with cutting-edge technology and infrastructure.

Both sides reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to further strengthen cooperation in this critical area, underscoring the importance of CPEC as a catalyst for economic growth and regional development.

Pakistan’s dedication to advancing the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor projects remains steadfast, with a strong focus on the transformation of Gwadar into a global logistics and economic hub.
