Beijing, 25 October 2021 (TDI): Moin Ul Haque, Pakistan Ambassador to China, stated that China-Pakistan trade relations had become extremely important over the years. China is Pakistan’s most important trading partner.
Pakistan is China’s all-weather strategic cooperative partner and bilateral relations between the two countries have become even stronger in economic and trade development It is worth noting that China and Pakistan have grown their trade volumes in spite of the global epidemic, said Haque and he expressed optimism about the future of China-Pakistan trade relations.
Moreover, Ambassador Haque claimed that both China and Pakistan have recently launched the Phase-2 Agreement on Free Trade in January, last year. Therefore, almost 1000 products are eligible in the tariff-free market access program. Haque also mentioned that the product’s diversification is now also the key focus of trade relations as it is a brand-new way to market, trade, and promote Pakistani products. He stated, “We also intend to bring more fruits and vegetables from Pakistan to China as we do meats and fishery products.”
He claimed that China’s e-commerce platforms have opened new doors in Pakistani markets as well whereas, both Chinese and Pakistani authorities are working together to make relations strong. Furthermore, China’s General Administration of Customs reported that during the first half of 2021, both China and Pakistan had traded the U.S. $12.56 billion and this figure is nearly 1.6 times greater than last year.
