Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday inked five accords to boost bilateral cooperation in different fields including banking, railways, mining and infrastructural investment.
The documents were inked during the maiden official visit of Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Pakistan, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The crown prince and the prime minister witnessed the ceremony as the officials from both countries exchanged the pre-signed documents of deals and Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for collaboration in various fields.
Federal cabinet members, Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir and members of the UAE delegation were also present.
Both sides signed a deal to promote bilateral collaboration in the field of banking.
Secretary Finance Imdadullah Bosal and CEO and MD of IHC Syed Basar Shueb swapped the documents.
The two sides also inked another deal to boost collaboration in the field of mining.
The CEO of Pakistan Railways Amir Ali Baloch and CEO Etihad Rail Shadi Malik exchanged the documents for two MOUs for collaboration in the field of railways.

Likewise, Secretary Board of Investment Nadeem Chaudhary and CEO AD Ports Capt. Muhammad Juma Al Shamisi swapped the documents for an MoU in the field of infrastructural investment.
Earlier, PM Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari received the Gulf country’s top leader in Islamabad.
President Zardari conferred the “Nishan-e-Pakistan” on the Abu Dhabi crown prince in recognition of his services for bringing the two countries closer and taking Pakistan-UAE relations to new heights.

The top civilian award was conferred on the crown prince at a special investiture ceremony at the Aiwan-e-Sadr and attended by PM Shehbaz, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Senate Chairman Yusuf Raza Gilani parliamentarians, diplomats, and senior officers.
