Islamabad (TDI): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the CICA’s vision of achieving common, cooperative, comprehensive and sustainable security in Asia.
He expressed the resolve while participating virtually in the seventh Ministerial Meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), hosted by CICA Chair Azerbaijan in virtual format.
The forum focused on strengthening regional cooperation, promoting peace, and progressing sustainable development in Asia.
The Deputy Prime Minister underlined CICA’s immense potential in addressing the region’s major challenges including conflicts, political disputes, and endemic poverty that continue to hinder collective development.
Highlighting the significance of dialogue, mutual respect and adherence to international law, he urged just and inclusive political solutions for long-standing conflicts such as Palestine and Kashmir.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed the important role of connectivity initiatives like the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) in promoting shared development, facilitating infrastructure upgrading, and enhancing trade and strengthening links across Asia.
He said that these projects can serve as examples for regional financial cooperation and prosperity.

Dar said Pakistan is a founding member of CICA, a multi-national forum aimed at strengthening cooperation and confidence-building among its 28 member countries to promote peace, security, stability, and prosperity in Asia.
