Islamabad, 21 January 2022 (TDI): Pakistan is set to host the OIC CFM, an abbreviation for the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Council of Foreign Ministers’ 48th Session, in the federal capital, Islamabad.
The Session is scheduled for 22-23 March of the current year. In this regard, the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, is sending invitations to other respectable Foreign Ministers of various states.
On Thursday 20 January 2022, the Foreign Minister of Indonesia welcomed the invitation sent by the Pakistani Foreign Minister. The invitations are being sent over telephonic conversations. The Indonesian Foreign Minister thanked her Pakistani counterpart through her Twitter handle.

In the phone call with the Foreign Minister of Indonesia, women’s empowerment was particularly discussed. It was mentioned that under the OIC framework steps must be taken for the empowerment of women.
Earlier Foreign Minister of Tunisia, on 14 January also received the invitation letter from Pakistan’s Ambassador. Similarly, respectable Foreign Ministers of other nations have been and are being invited.

Pakistan hosted the 17th Extraordinary Session of the OIC CFM on Afghanistan
This Session took place on 19 December of the previous year. The venue was the Parliament House in the federal capital, Islamabad. The prime focus of the session was war-torn Afghanistan. Discussions were held on the humanitarian crisis in the before-mentioned country.
The countries sat together and devised a strategy to assist Afghanistan in overcoming the challenges. Ways for mobilization of resources were discussed. Maintenance and reconstruction of peace were discussed and advocated for.
Several key points of the draft resolution were presented. The establishment of the humanitarian trust fund, launching of the Afghanistan food security program, etc were a few points. International Community was also called for assistance.
