Las Vegas (TDI): In a landmark announcement at Bitcoin Vegas 2025, Pakistan’s Minister for Crypto and Blockchain Bilal Bin Saqib unveiled the country’s first government-led Strategic Bitcoin Reserve, marking a historic pivot in the country’s digital and financial outlook.
Addressing a global audience that included US Vice President JD Vance, Eric Trump, and Donald Trump Jr, Bilal Bin Saqib cast Pakistan as a rising digital powerhouse, driven by its tech-savvy youth and a strategic shift towards decentralized finance.
“I’m not just here as a minister,” he declared in his keynote. “I speak for a generation, a generation that is online, on-chain, and unstoppable.”
Saqib, who also heads the Pakistan Crypto Council (PCC), emphasized that newly established Bitcoin reserve is not intended for speculation or trading. Instead, it will function as a sovereign asset —a clear signal of Pakistan’s long-term commitment to blockchain-driven finance infrastructure. The state-controlled national Bitcoin wallet is already holding assets under official custody.
He also announced Phase One of a government-backed infrastructure project, allocating two thousand megawatts of surplus electricity for Bitcoin mining and artificial intelligence (AI) data centers.
The initiative is aimed to attract sovereign miners, international technology companies, and renewable energy partners.

Another major highlight of Saqib’s address was the announcement of the upcoming Pakistan Digital Assets Authority (PDAA), a dedicated regulatory institution set to protect investors, empower developers, and build a secure and transparent framework for digital finance in the country.
Bilal remarked that both Pakistan and Bitcoin have long nettled negative perceptions. “But if you look past the headlines, you will see something else: talent, resilience, and vision.” He added.

He highlighted Pakistan’s unique position, with more than 40 million crypto wallets, a median age of twenty-three, and one of the world’s largest freelancer populations — making it a natural contender in the Web3 economy.
In a significant geopolitical gesture, he thanked US President Donald Trump for helping maintain peace during the recent India-Pakistan military standoff and appreciated his stance on crypto adoption.
