United Nations (TDI): Counsellor on Human Rights for Pakistan’s Permanent Mission to United Nations Saima Saleem has urged India to stop state terrorism and initiate meaningful dialogue.
In response to India’s statement during the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) open debate, Saima said that New Delhi has once again resorted to disinformation, deflection and denial.
“No amount of obfuscation can hide the facts, India shamelessly kills and tortures civilians in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), carried out blatant attacks against Pakistan targeting civilians and sponsors terrorism and killers in my country and across the world,” the counsellor told UNSC.
Criticizing the Modi government’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT) after the Pahalgam incident, Saima stated India had even stooped to a new low of disrupting the flow of rivers that serve as a lifeline for the 240 million people of Pakistan. Water is not a weapon of war, she insisted.

Pointing to the killing of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada and the conspiracy to kill Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh in the United States, Saima reminded the UNSC that India sponsors terrorism and target killings not only in Pakistan but across the globe.
She added that Pakistan, along with the global community, condemned the Pahalgam incident.

“If New Delhi had nothing to hide, it should have agreed to a neutral, transparent and independent probe into the incident,” she said.
“On the contrary, India continues to subject people of the occupied valley of state-sponsored terrorism to suppress their legitimate independence struggle.”
