Islamabad (TDI): Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Olivier Jean Patrick Nduhungirehe called on Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar on Monday to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including trade and investment.
Deputy Prime Minister Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening ties with Rwanda and other African nations.
Ambassador Nduhungirehe appreciated Pakistan’s support and expressed interest in expanding bilateral partnership across various sectors.
Nduhungirehe arrived in Islamabad on Sunday for his first official visit to Pakistan, marking a major step in strengthening diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, he was warmly received by Director General for Africa at Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Hasnain Yousaf.
The Rwandan High Commissioner to Pakistan and other senior officials of the Foreign Office were also present to welcome him.
The Rwandan Foreign Minister is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of his counterpart Ishaq Dar, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit is part of Pakistan’s broader strategy to enhance engagement with African countries under its “Engage Africa” policy framework.
During his stay, Ambassador Nduhungirehe will also hold formal talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chairman Senate Yousaf Raza Gillani.
He is also scheduled to engage with key federal ministers to explore opportunities for bilateral collaboration in different sectors.
Highlighting the growing diplomatic relations, the visiting Foreign Minister will formally inaugurate the High Commission of Rwanda in Islamabad.
The inauguration ceremony will be attended by senior government officials from both nations, members of the diplomatic corps as well as representatives of the business community.

“This trip marks a major milestone in the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two countries” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, adding that it would open up avenues of collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
