Pakistan, Romania Commit to Strengthening Defense Cooperation

Islamabad (TDI): Romanian Ambassador Dan Stoenescu met with Pakistan’s Minister for Defense, Khawaja Muhammad Asif, on Thursday to mark 60 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with both sides pledging to deepen cooperation in the defense sector.

The defense minister described Romania as an important partner within the European Union and emphasized the scope for expanding defense collaboration.

He welcomed Romania’s participation in multinational military exercises hosted by Pakistan, saying such engagements underscored the two nations’ shared commitment to regional and global stability.

Both sides agreed on the need to enhance collaboration in the defense sector, including strengthening ties with Romanian defense forces, fostering regular exchanges of experts, and expanding interaction between defense personnel.

The Romanian Ambassador acknowledged Pakistan’s significant role as a strong regional player contributing to peace and stability, and expressed Romania’s readiness to further broaden bilateral cooperation.
