Islamabad, 27 July 2022 (TDI): Pakistan has categorically rejected misguiding and groundless Indian remarks to politicize the China- Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The remarks were made by the Official Spokesperson of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) while talking about the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, the situation in Afghanistan, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
According to the statement of Pakistan’s Foreign Office, attempts to cast aspersions over CPEC show India’s insecurity over the growing Pakistan-China economic partnership.
Moreover, it shows its pursuit of a hegemonic agenda that has held back socio-economic development in South Asia for decades.

The statement further declared that India has no right to make fallacious remarks on CPEC, which is a flagship project under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
China-Pakistan Economic Corridor
CPEC is a transformational project and a harbinger of stability, mutual cooperation, and shared development for the region.
It is a flagship of the Belt and Road Initiative and hallmark of the Pakistan-China All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership.
The project significantly provides a vehicle for the people of the region to break from zero-sum approaches. It promises socio-economic uplift and regional connectivity.
China’s investment in CPEC has helped Pakistan overcome the energy and infrastructural bottlenecks that once constrained growth and development.
Foreign Office spokesperson rejected Indian remarks over CPEC and asserted that the project impinges on its “sovereignty and territorial integrity”.
He further assured that no amount of Indian machinations or propaganda can undermine the significance of CPEC for Pakistan or the region.
Remarks over Indian statement on Jammu and Kashmir
Foreign Office spokesperson stated that India makes false and fabricated claims over illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). This can neither change the facts nor divert global attention from Indian atrocities.
He further said that for over seven decades India is perpetrating gross and widespread human rights violations in the illegally occupied territory. It is effectuating blatant territorial and demographic changes in Jammu and Kashmir.
The spokesperson also reiterated that Jammu and Kashmir is an internationally recognized dispute. The resolution of this issue is still pending as per the UNSC resolutions.
