Sharjah, 3 September 2022 (TDI): Pakistan cricket team beats Hong Kong to reach the Super Four round of Asia Cup 2022.

The match between Pakistan and Hong Kong was a Round A match, played in Sharjah on September 2. Pakistan is the second team to reach the Super Four from Group A. The first team to qualify for Super Four from Group A was India.

Pakistan team included Babar Azam (C), Shadab Khan, Muhammad Rizwan (WK), Asif Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Iftikhar Ahmed, Khushdil Shah, Muhammad Nawaz, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf and Shahnawaz Dahani.

Hong Kong team included Nizakat Khan (C), Yasim Murtaza, Babar Hayat, Kinchit Shah, Aizaz Khan, Scott McKechnie (WK), Zeeshan Ali, Arshad Muhammad, Ehsan Khan, Ayush Shukla, and Mohammad Ghazanfar.

Hong Kong won the toss and chose to bowl first. Pakistan had a slow start and lost their captain inside the power play. After that, the runs started to flow when Rizwan and Fakhar were on the crease.

Muhammad Rizwan scored an unbeaten 78 on 57 balls and Fakhar Zaman scored 57 on 41 balls. This partnership changed the course of the match.

Pakistan set a target of 194 runs for Hong Kong in their 20 overs. In response, the Hong Kong team never looked comfortable on the crease and the whole team was bowled out inside 11 overs on just 38 runs.

The bowlers bowled extremely well for Pakistan. Shadab Khan was the pick of the bowlers and picked up 4 wickets for just 8 runs. Muhammad Nawaz picked up 3 wickets and Naseem Shah picked up 2 wickets.

Muhammad Rizwan was declared Man of the Match for his brilliant knock of 78 on just 57 balls. Pakistan got through to Super Four of Asia Cup 2022 after a thumping win over Hong Kong.

Pakistan will face India on Sunday once again in their first match of the Super Four round.
