Pakistan Offers to Supply with Oman Skilled Workers

Muscat (TDI): Minister for Overseas Pakistanis Chaudhry Salik Hussain has offered to supply Oman with well-trained human resources in different fields to meet its work force needs.

He made this offer in a meeting between the Pakistani Minister and Omani Labour Minister Dr Mahad bin Said bin Ali Baawain in Muscat.

In the meeting, Pakistan and Oman also agreed on early finalization of MoU on labor and manpower.

On this occasion the minister said that the technical training centers in Pakistan are being up-graded on modern lines to train the workforce according to the certification requirement of each individual country or region and concrete steps have been taken in this connection.

He said that Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis has decided to start a compulsory pre-departure orientation program for all workers to educate them about the labor laws, workers’ rights, duties and cultural sensitivities of a host country.

The Minister apprises the Omani official about various steps that Pakistan has taken to reform labor sector and  improve workers’ immigration process and capacity building.

On his part, Mahad bin Said expressed commitment of the Government of Oman, third largest employer of Pakistani workforce in the region after KSA and UAE, to streamline the process of migration of workers to Oman.

According to available data over 360,000 Pakistanis are presently working in Oman in different fields.
