Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and Nepal on Tuesday reaffirmed their commitment to regional climate collaboration during a meeting between Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Dr. Musadik Malik and Nepalese Ambassador Rita Dhital.
The meeting focused on regional peace and environmental cooperation, with Ambassador Rita Dhital invited Dr. Malik to attend the inaugural regional Climate Dialogue Forum in Nepal.
The event, which will bring together climate ministers from across South Asia and beyond, will be concluded with a non-binding declaration on climate action.
The envoy welcomed the recent de-escalation between Pakistan and India, describing it a relief.

She also lauded Pakistan’s leadership in climate advocacy on international level and its efforts for environmental protection.
During the meeting, Dr. Malik stressed Islamabad’s firm commitment peace and stability in the region, while underlining Pakistan’s experience as a major victim of terrorism and aggression.
Dr. Malik said that Pakistan sincerely seeks peace, this desire must not be misunderstood as a sign of weakness.
Referring to the recent clashes with India, he expressed regret over the loss of life on both sides and blamed the escalation on what he described as New Delhi’s failed attempt to assert hegemony in South Asia.

“We are glad that peace has now been restored,” the Minister said.
Both sides agreed that climate change is one of the most dangerous international challenges and emphasized the need for enhanced regional collaboration to tackle its impacts.
The meeting ended on a positive note, with both sides vowing to continue working jointly on environmental and regional problems through diplomatic channels.
