Pakistan Navy in 11th Multinational Exercise Cormorant Strike-2021

Colombo, 1 October 2021 (TDI): Pakistan Navy Special Service Group (SSG) participated in the 11th Joint Tri-Service Mega Field Training Exercise (FTX) “Exercise-Cormorant Strike XI-2021”. It is a premier field training exercise of the Sri Lankan Armed Forces. It was held at Infantry Training Center Minneriya. The 11th edition was exclusively designed for Special Operation Forces to enhance synergy with other armed forces.

Major General Harendra Ranasinghe was the exercise director. While Major General Anil Samarasiri was the deputy director. Regional countries including Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Nepal, and the Maldives participated in the exercise.

The exercise was organized to enhance interoperability, exchange expertise, and strengthen relations among Special Forces of participating countries. The operations in the exercise included: anti-terrorism operations, disaster relief, reconnaissance missions, riverine operations, and counter-terrorism in the maritime domain.

According to a statement issued by Pakistan Navy, the professional experienced gained during the exercise will assist in countering common threats. It will also enhance military cooperation among regional countries.
