Islamabad, 22 June 2023 (TDI): Pakistan’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Hina Rabbani Khar, paid a significant visit to the Torkham Border. The Torkham Border Crossing Point (BCP) is between Pakistan and Afghanistan. Her visit aimed to assess the border’s operations and explore opportunities for enhancing bilateral ties between the two nations.
Minister of State Khar received a comprehensive briefing from senior officials. The briefing underlined the measures implemented to streamline and ease the crossing process for individuals and goods.
Additionally, it ensured that the experience would be more efficient and convenient. It also provided valuable insights into the steps taken to improve the movement of people and goods at the border.

Acknowledging the importance of facilitating Afghan citizens, Khar emphasized the need to treat them with utmost respect and care.
She further stressed the significance of establishing a conducive environment that fosters smooth transitions and minimizes the hardships faced by Afghan nationals during the crossing.

Besides this, Minister of State Khar underscored the urgency of completing the Integrated Transit Trade Management System (ITTMS).
This comprehensive system aims to streamline trade operations, enhance efficiency, and strengthen economic ties between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
She expressed her keen interest in ensuring the expeditious completion of the ITTMS. She also wanted to further promote bilateral trade and cooperation between the two nations.

The ITTMS is a web-based system designed to facilitate the movement of goods between Pakistan and Afghanistan. The system will streamline the customs clearance process and will help to ensure that goods are transported efficiently and safely.
The ITTMS will also help to track the movement of goods. Moreover, it will help to prevent smuggling and other illegal activities.
