Islamabad, 20 August 2022 (TDI): A meeting was held between Syed Naveed Qamar, Minister for Commerce and Investment of Pakistan, and Aibek Artykbaev, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, in Islamabad.
During the meeting, the two dignitaries agreed to enhance economic and trade cooperation between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan.

Moreover, they discussed increasing the regional connectivity to promote regional economic integration with Central Asian Republics.
Further, the Ministers exchanged views on ways and means to increase trade volume between Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan. They also emphasized enhancing cooperation in other areas of mutual interest.
The Commerce Minister of Pakistan underscored that promoting international trade, transit, and investment is a significant component of Pakistan’s economic policies.
Moreover, the Deputy Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan also assured the Pakistani Minister of further enhancing trade ties between the two states. He further said that he would take and assure practical measures in this regard.
Previous Meetings
The Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister is visiting Pakistan on an official visit. Earlier, he met with Sohail Mahmood, Foreign Secretary of Pakistan.
They discussed various matters of mutual interest during the meeting. The Foreign Secretary stressed further strengthening the existing bilateral relationship between states under Pakistan’s Vision central Asia Policy.
Further, Minister Aibek Artykbaev also chaired the second round of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan Bilateral Political Consultations (BPC) along with Ammar Aftab, Additional Secretary of Afghanistan and West Asia. The second session of BPC was held on 17-18 August.
During his visit to Pakistan, the Kyrgyz Deputy Foreign Minister also called on Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Pakistan’s Foreign Minister. The dignitaries expressed satisfaction with the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan established their diplomatic ties in May 1992. They marked the 30th Anniversary of the ties this year. Apart from this, the two countries maintain strong cooperation in various sectors, including trade, investment, energy, and education.
