Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan and Kuwait have signed the “Protocol Agreement 2026” to further strengthen bilateral defense cooperation.
The agreement builds on the 2023 Agreement for Defense Cooperation, which was ratified by Kuwait this year.
According to a statement issued by Pakistan’s Ministry of Defence, senior officials from both countries signed the Protocol Agreement 2026 in Islamabad on Thursday. The ministry said the new document would strengthen the existing framework created under the Defence Cooperation Agreement-2023.
The agreement was finalised during the visit of a high-level Kuwaiti delegation led by Defence Minister Sheikh Abdullah Ali Abdullah Al-Saleem Al-Sabah, who met Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif.
The ministry said the two sides discussed matters of mutual interest, with particular attention to bilateral defence relations, security cooperation and ways to further deepen military ties.
The protocol provides an institutional framework for expanding military-to-military cooperation, including training, deployment and enhanced defense engagement between the two countries.
The agreement reflects the longstanding brotherly ties between Pakistan and Kuwait and translates mutual trust into stronger institutional and operational cooperation.

The protocol is exclusively related to Pakistan-Kuwait defense relations and is not linked to any other bilateral or multilateral arrangement.
The agreement is expected to help provide a mechanism for the effective implementation of the 2023 defense pact and further institutionalize the longstanding partnership between Islamabad and Kuwait.
