Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan has carried out targeted strikes against militant hideouts along the Afghan border, killing 26 militants linked the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), according to Information Minister Attaullah Tarar.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Tarar said the operation was launched following a series of recent terrorist attacks inside Pakistan. He stated that intelligence-based, precision strikes targeted militant camps and safe havens located in border regions adjoining Afghanistan.
The minister said that four key militant facilities were destroyed, including a training centre, operational hideouts, and ammunition storage sites. He said the targets were associated with senior militant commanders and that the operation was conducted with a focus on accuracy to minimize collateral damage.
Tarar said the action forms part of Pakistan’s ongoing counterterrorism campaign under the Azm-i-Istehkam strategy, emphasizing that the country remains committed to eliminating what it describes as foreign-backed terrorism while maintaining regional peace and stability.

The operation came after several major attacks on security forces in recent weeks. Among them was a militant assault on a Federal Constabulary post in Peshawar’s Musa Dara area, where six personnel were killed and four others injured. Security forces reportedly killed eight attackers while repelling the assault.
The minister also referred to previous suicide attacks in North Waziristan and Bannu, which resulted in significant casualties among security personnel.
Pakistan has repeatedly called on the Afghan Taliban administration to take action against militant groups operating from Afghan territory, particularly the TTP. Afghan authorities have rejected these accusations, insisting that Pakistan’s security challenges are internal matters.
The latest strikes follow months of heightened tensions between Islamabad and Kabul. Earlier this year, Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab lil-Haq in response to cross-border incidents, targeting what it described as terrorist infrastructure near the frontier.

Despite recent military actions, diplomatic efforts continue. China has been facilitating dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan, hosting talks aimed at easing tensions and encouraging cooperation on security concerns.
Pakistani officials maintain that improved relations with Afghanistan depend on credible assurances that Afghan territory will not be used by militant groups to launch attacks against Pakistan.
