Islamabad, 18 November 2023 (TDI): On the occasion of the National Day of the Sultanate of Oman, Pakistan expressed heartfelt greetings to the people and the government of Oman.
According to a post on social media by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan, it said, “On the occasion of the National Day of the Sultanate of Oman, we extend our heartfelt felicitations to its people and Government.”
The Sultanate of Oman is celebrating its 53rd National Day this year, marking milestone achievements made in all aspects of life under the leadership of Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
The National Day of Oman commemorates the birthday of Sultan Qaboos bin Al-Said. The Sultan ruled the country from 1970 to 2020.
Relations between Pakistan and Oman are long-standing, strategic, and cultural. They are characterized by mutual understanding and are based on solid foundations.
Both countries share mutual bonds of religion, brotherhood, and cultural values. Moreover, both states enjoy geographical proximity by sharing common maritime boundaries.
The Foreign Ministers of Pakistan and Oman jointly chaired a joint commission, which serves as the fundamental framework for various areas of cooperation. An important agreement between the two countries established the commission.

The joint commission of foreign ministers has so far held five sessions of meetings, alternately in each country. Within these meetings’ framework, several agreements and memoranda of understanding have been signed.
Additionally, further agreements to enhance and facilitate areas of cooperation across various sectors of both countries are in the process of being prepared to be signed.
The Pak Oman Investment Company (POIC), to boost economic and investment cooperation, was established in 2001 with a capital of 100 million USD.
The Pak Oman Investment Company was established during the high-level visit of His late Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
