Pakistan Incurred Loses of Billions Due to PTI Protest: Shehbaz

Islamabad (TDI): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that the country’s economy incurred losses worth billions of rupees due to the recent PTI protest in Islamabad.

“The country faced losses of billions of rupees due to the PTI protest, and these ‘miscreants’ are fully responsible for it,” he said while chairing a high-level meeting on the law-and-order situation following the protest.

During the meeting, the prime minister was briefed that the protesters attacked Police and Rangers personnel, and vandalized public property.

PM Shehbaz strongly condemned these incidents, saying those trying to conceal their history of corruption and seek political gains are behind these attempts to create unrest in the country.

The premier directed authorities to identify these “miscreants” and start legal action.

“Instead of choosing legal avenues, they spread chaos in the country by frequent marches on the federal capital,” the premier said, applauding the law enforcement agencies for successfully dealing with protesters.

The premier highlighted that soon after the protest ended, the Pakistan Stock Exchange KSE-100 crossed the 100,000-point benchmark.

PTI Protest and Security Measures

The prime minister stressed the need for establishing an Anti-Riot Force that is trained as per the international standards and equipped with necessary equipment. He directed authorities to devise a comprehensive strategy to deal with such incidents in the future.
