London, 19 January 2024 (TDI): On Thursday Pakistan, and Estonia envoys discussed trade and public diplomacy in a meeting held in London. Dr Mohammad Faisal and Viljar Lubi, the Estonian Ambassador are committed to strengthening the bilateral relations.
Their “fruitful” discussion encompassed a host of issues including trade, public diplomacy, and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). During the bilateral talks, the participants decided to enhance cooperation between Pakistan and Estonia through various multi-sectoral initiatives.
The high commissioner shared details of Pakistan’s candidature for the IMO. Dr Faisal also expressed best wishes to Viljar Lubi for his upcoming visit to Pakistan.

Previously, On 1 December 2023, the Prime Minister of Pakistan engaged in a dynamic discussion with the Prime Minister of Estonia. Anwaar-Ul-Haq Kakar and Kaja Kallas discussed the necessity for regular high-level contacts and dialogue to advance bilateral relations.
Both agreed on the need for working together to address common challenges including climate change and food security.
Both leaders emphasized the importance of regular high-level engagement and dialogue to realize the true potential of bilateral ties.
Prime Minister Kakar underscored the significance of exploring possibilities of strengthening economic ties.
Prime Minister Kallas agreed and welcomed the signing of the Convention on Elimination of Double Taxation between the two sides.
Both Prime Ministers discussed the importance of digital technology and Artificial Intelligence in dealing with food insecurity and enhancing agricultural productivity.
Prime Minister Kakar expressed Pakistan’s desire to develop cooperative linkages with Estonia, particularly in trade and investment, higher education, and information technology.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister appreciated the operation of the Loss and Damage Fund and emphasized the need for concrete actions in the domain of climate action.
This engagement provided an opportunity to discuss bilateral relations and other issues of regional and global importance including threats posed by climate change.

Pakistan-Estonian Association (PEA)
The PEA is a platform to strengthen relationships between both countries and to increase trade and cooperation in different sectors such as e-Governance and IT. The organization also works to promote international mobility to exchange faculty members, researchers, and students.
The majority of the Pakistanis residing in Estonia are highly qualified and skilled people including engineers and software experts.
The leading Estonian lawmaker about the cultural activities of the Pakistani community in different cities of Estonia. The steps and objectives of the Pakistan Association Estonia were highly appreciated by the Estonian envoy. He emphasized further efforts for the enhancement of ties between Pakistan and Estonia.
Estonia has started its efforts for the exchange of students and scholars between the two countries. Both have achieved an agreement on exchange faculty members between NUST University of Pakistan and an Estonian university. During the meeting, the two sides agreed that educational diplomacy could be used as an effective tool in Pakistan’s relations with Estonia.
Higher educational institutions on both sides play a significant role in promoting bilateral relations. They collaborate in study and research projects, joint degrees, consulting contracts, and other activities that promote the mutual interests of Pakistan and Estonia.
