Relations between Pakistan and Denmark

The two states established their diplomatic ties in the early years of Pakistan’s independence. The first Danish representative arrived in Pakistan in 1949.

While, in November 1976, Pakistan opened its first Ambassador-level resident Mission in Copenhagen.

Moreover, Pakistan and Denmark enjoy good and friendly bilateral relations in all areas of mutual interest, including trade and investment, climate change, and renewable energy.

Further, the Pakistani Diaspora living in Denmark strengthens people-to-people ties. Further, Pakistan and Denmark also closely coordinate on regional as well as international issues.

Apart from this, they have annual trade of more than 250 million US dollars. Moreover, Denmark also assists Pakistan through its Danish Energy Transition Initiative (DETI).

Through this initiative, the country provides technical assistance to Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy in the areas of planning long-term energy scenarios and integrating renewable energy into the existing grid.
