Toronto, 11 August 2022 (TDI): The Consul General of Pakistan to Toronto, Abdul Hameed ended his mission in Toronto in August. On this occasion, a number of Pakistani-based organizations arranged farewell dinners for him.
Farewell Dinner by UETAC
The University of Engineering and Technology (UET) is one of the oldest Engineering Education Institue in Pakistan. The alumni of UET in Canada are referred to as UETAC.
UETAC arranged a farewell dinner for the Consul General on the occasion. The dinner was organized to honor the efforts and work of Abdul Hameed to bring Canada and Pakistan together.

It was attended by Professor Shameem Sheikh, Irfan Ahmed, President, UET Alumni of Canada, Nazli Khan, President NED Alumni Canada, Rafeel Chaudhry, and several other members of UETAC.
Moreover, the former Presidents of UETAC including Saleem Chaudhri and Khursheed Chishti also attended the dinner. The dinner also saw a discussion on better networking among Pakistani professionals living abroad.
UETAC
UETAC has been working in small groups to help fellow engineers and keep a link with their alma mater. The structured group of UETAC was formed in 2012 under the name “Alumni Association of UET Lahore & Affiliates of Canada”.
Furthermore, the association is also registered with Corporations Canada. UETAC provides an active platform for all UET alumni in Canada. Additionally, it also works to develop a strong network of alumni throughout the world.
As an Alumni Association, UETAC also aims to develop a substantial endowment that will help propel the UET to the forefront among the institutes of higher learning in the world.
Farewell Dinner by CPPCA
Pakistan’s Pakhtoon Community Association in Canada (CPPCA) also arranged a farewell dinner for Consul General, Abdul Hameed. The President of CPPCA, Taj Afzal, and founding members of CPPCA spoke at the event.

The dinner was also arranged to express gratitude for the services of Abdul Hameed. It was concluded with wishes for Abdul Hameed to achieve more success in his future works.
The Canadian Pakistan’s Pukhtoon Community Association (CPPCA) is a non-profit organization that is working to help the Pukhtoon community living in Canada.
Consul General of Canada
Abdul Hameed has served as the Consul General of Toronto since January 5, 2020. Previously, he served at Pakistan’s High Commission, New Delhi.
Moreover, he has also worked in the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the United Nations, New York for five years. During his tenure in the Consulate General of Toronto, Abdul Hameed has achieved greatly in bringing the two nations closer.
Recently, the Consulate General also observed Youm-e-Istehsal to show solidarity with the Kashmiris being oppressed by Indian forces.

Additionally, as part of Pakistan’s celebrations for the upcoming 75th independence day, the Consulate General in Toronto has organized an art exhibition on inclusion and diversity.
The exhibition displays paintings and drawings by female artists which represent women’s power in the field too.

Salma Zahid, a member of Parliament of the House of Commons of Canada also attended the exhibit on its first day. While presenting her remarks about the exhibition, she also thanked the Consul General of Toronto for his services.
She said that Abdul Hameed has done a lot to bring the diaspora together and represent them on bigger platforms for which she was thankful to him.
