Islamabad (TDI): Pakistan on Thursday strongly condemned the ongoing Israeli attacks on Lebanon, stating that the strikes undermine international efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
In a statement, the Pakistan Foreign Office said it condemns “in the strongest terms” the Israeli aggression, which has resulted in the loss of innocent lives and widespread damage to infrastructure. It added that such actions violate international law and basic humanitarian principles.
The statement warned that continued hostilities are counterproductive to global peace initiatives and urged the international community to take immediate steps to halt the violence. Pakistan also reaffirmed its full solidarity with the people and government of Lebanon, emphasizing support for the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and stability.
The condemnation comes amid a sharp escalation in Lebanon, where heavy Israeli airstrikes have caused significant casualties and destruction. The developments have raised concerns about the durability of the Pakistan-brokered ceasefire between the United States and Iran, particularly as reports indicate uncertainty over whether the truce extends to the Lebanese front.
Lebanon declared a national day of mourning following the strikes, which reportedly killed over 200 people and injured more than 1,000, according to local authorities. Public offices were closed and flags lowered as part of the observance.
