Minsk, 22 August 2024 (TDI): Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that Pakistan is committed to further strengthening bilateral relations with Belarus, particularly through enhanced parliamentary engagement.
In a meeting with Igor Sergeyenko, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus in Minsk, on Wednesday, he said that this visit marks an important step forward in bilateral ties.
“We deeply appreciate your hospitality and are eager to build on the foundations laid over the past thirty years of diplomatic ties”, he said.
The speaker stressed the need to deepen parliamentary relations between the two countries, focusing on expanding the legal framework for cooperation
“We are committed to revisiting and updating existing deals to ensure they are more effective. Pakistan’s Parliament will actively work on these frameworks to facilitate closer bilateral interaction,” Ayaz Sadiq said.
On the subject of bilateral cooperation, the speaker reiterated Islamabad’s support for Belarus in global platforms, including its bid to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
He also affirmed Islamabad’s willingness to support Belarus in joining different organizations where Pakistan is a member.

Pakistan believed that this collaboration could be mutually beneficial, and it was ready to give its support wherever possible, he stressed.
Igor Sergeyenko expressed his gratitude for Pakistan’s consistent support at international forums.
He welcomed the Pakistani parliamentary delegation’s visit comprising Members National Assembly M. Asalm Ghumman, Syed Hafeezuddin, and Syed Tariq Hussain, noting it as a majormilestone in strengthening the ties between the two nations.
