The Virtual conference on China-Pakistan Technology Investment

Beijing, 20 July 2022 (TDI): The Special Technology Zones Authority hosted the Pakistan-China Technology Investment Conference in collaboration with the Pakistan Embassy in China.

Also, the Chinese embassy in Pakistan and Zhongguancun Belt and Road Association collaborated on the conference.

It was a virtual conference and more than 1400 Chinese technology companies attended the conference. The purpose of this conference was to build cross-border links in the technology landscape.

STZA’s Chairman, Amer Hashmi, and Chief Commercial Officer Javaid Iqbal participated in the conference. Furthermore, STZA’s Director of Strategic Planning & Client Services, Hamza Orakzai was representing STZA’s mandate at the cross-border tech engagement.

Special Technology Zones Authority, Pakistan

It provides legislative and institutional support for Pakistan’s technology sector development.

Through an ecosystem approach, STZA offers world-class physical and digital infrastructure. As well as a regulatory framework that can catapult Pakistan into a technology-driven future.

The scope of STZ includes ‘Research and Development, Innovation & Entrepreneurship, Tech exports & Import substitution, Tech transfer, Human capital Development, and Job creation’.

Also, it offers special incentives to attract investors, builders, and technology companies to collaborate with the government and also offers a one-stop shop for local and international businesses in the Special Technology Zones.

China-Pakistan Ties

Both countries have had diplomatic relations since 1951. In line with both countries’ friendly ties, China and Pakistan have kept close contact in the cultural field.

Since the establishment of the diplomatic relations between the two countries, Pakistan and China have sent cultural delegations and groups and held exhibitions in their countries.

In March 1965, the representatives from the Chinese and Pakistani Governments signed the cultural agreement in Rawalpindi. Thus, for the first time signing the plan of annual cultural exchanges for implementation.

Pakistan and China signed their first trade agreement in 1963. The economic ties grew stronger in 2013 with the establishment of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

In conclusion, Pakistan regards China as a close friend and partner. Also, cooperation in Scientific and Technological areas has been fruitful between both countries.
