Islamabad, 1 October 2021 (TDI): Pakistan congratulates Nigeria on its 61st National Day. Nigeria was a former British colony. It gained independence on October 1, 1960. The country is rich in natural resources particularly petroleum and natural gas. Ethnic and lingual diversity is the hall-mark of Nigeria.
Pakistan and Nigeria share cordial diplomatic relations based on mutual respect, solidarity, and goodwill. Both countries are members of the Commonwealth and Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Pakistan and Nigeria have established linkages in various domains including trade, defense, cultural, and tourism sectors. Pakistan sold three JF-17 Thunder aircraft to Nigeria in May 2021. Along with this, Nigerian Army Officers receive training in Pakistan. Both countries are willing to explore further avenues of cooperation.
